WHAT IS SCREENPRINTING?
Screenprinting is the process by which artwork is created, color
separated, then later printed on see through paper (vellum.) From
this artwork, one or more screens are burned (depending upon how
many colors are in the art.) The screen is set up and registered
on the press, and ink is applied to the screen. Our technicians
pull the squeegee across the screen and the ink passes through
the open area onto the garment being printed. The garment is then
put through a large conveyer dryer that heats the garment up to
375 degrees to cure the ink.
HOW MANY COLORS CAN YOU PRINT?
We can print up to 6 colors on a full front, full back or crest
imprint, and one color on a sleeve imprint.
HOW IS THE PRICING BASED?
In screenprinting, the cost is based on how many colors of ink,
the color of garments, and how many garments we are printing.
Each color adds to the complexity of artwork, another vellum,
another screen, and a separate pull on the press. Dark shirts
require a white underlay or 2 or more pulls of the squeegee to
make a vivid image, so the price is slightly higher for printing
dark shirts.
WHAT TYPE OF INK DO YOU USE?
Resort Promo Wear uses the finest and most opaque plastisol inks
available. Plastisol inks are “cured” by going through
a long baker with a temperature of 375 degrees. This process sets
the ink and makes it last as long as the shirt.
WHAT ARE THE CHOICES OF INK COLORS?
We can match Pantone colors (PMS) or use any of the numerous stock
ink colors found on the Wilflex color chart.

WHY DO SOME COLORS OF THE SHIRT SHOW THROUGH THE INK?
This is called a “bleed.” The dye on the shirt comes
through the ink when it is subjected to heat from the dryer. Although
current inks have helped eliminate this, it can still occur. This
happens especially when white ink printed on red, black or maroon
garments that the polyester content is over 30%
